Chapter 49 – Snowfall, A Slip & A Promise β„οΈπŸŒŠβ€οΈ

🎡 Song: Hawayein – Instrumental Version

"Sometimes...

love doesn't announce itself.

It quietly reaches out a hand...

before you even realize you're falling."

After exploring the local market...

Both families made their way toward one of Kufri's famous viewpoints.

Fresh snow had covered the narrow pathway.

The pine trees stood tall on both sides.

Soft snowflakes continued falling from the sky, making everything look magical.

Kabir looked around excitedly.

"Come on!"

"Let's have a snowball fight!"

Anaya immediately agreed.

"Yes!"

Before the adults could stop them...

The two little troublemakers had already run ahead.

Rajeev laughed.

"Those two never get tired."

Vikram shook his head with a smile.

"Just don't throw snow at us."

Within seconds...

A full-fledged snowball fight had begun.

Kabir threw the first snowball.

Anaya successfully dodged it.

"You missed!"

"Stand still!"

"No!"

The entire place echoed with laughter.

Meanwhile...

Aarohi quietly walked along the snowy path.

She admired the mountains, occasionally stopping to click pictures.

Reyansh walked a few steps behind her.

Not because he had to...

But because he wanted to make sure she didn't slip.

She turned around.

"Why are you walking behind me?"

"So I can catch you."

She laughed softly.

"I'm not a child."

"I know."

"But you're clumsy."

"I'm not clumsy."

He raised an eyebrow.

"We'll see."

Almost as if the mountains wanted to prove him right...

Aarohi stepped onto a patch of ice hidden beneath the snow.

Her foot slipped.

"Aahβ€”!"

Before she could lose her balance completely...

A warm hand caught her wrist.

Another hand gently supported her waist.

She gasped.

Her eyes slowly lifted.

Reyansh was standing extremely close.

Holding her securely.

"You okay?"

She nodded slowly.

"I..."

"I slipped."

"I noticed."

For a moment...

Neither of them moved.

Snowflakes landed softly on their coats.

Their eyes remained locked.

Reyansh smiled.

"What did I say?"

She sighed dramatically.

"Don't say it."

"I told you..."

He chuckled.

"...you're clumsy."

She pouted.

"I officially dislike you."

"Liar."

"You just saved me."

"I did."

"So you like me a little."

She looked away.

"I never said that."

"You didn't have to."

Just then...

Kabir's loud voice interrupted the moment.

"Bhai!"

"Snowball attack!"

A snowball flew toward Reyansh.

He instinctively moved.

It completely missed him.

And landed...

On Aarohi's coat.

Silence.

Kabir froze.

"...Oops."

Anaya burst into laughter.

"You hit Didi!"

"I was aiming at Bhai!"

Aarohi looked down at the snow on her coat.

Then looked at Kabir.

She smiled mischievously.

"So..."

"It's war."

Kabir's eyes widened.

"Oh no."

Within seconds...

Everyone was laughing.

Even the adults joined in.

Snowballs flew everywhere.

Rajeev accidentally hit Vikram.

Meera laughed so hard she almost dropped her gloves.

Nandini successfully attacked both fathers at once.

The entire mountain echoed with laughter.

In the middle of all the chaos...

A snowball suddenly came flying toward Aarohi from another group of tourists who were playing nearby.

She didn't notice.

But Reyansh did.

Without thinking...

He stepped in front of her.

Thump.

The snowball hit his shoulder instead.

Aarohi looked surprised.

"Reyansh!"

He casually brushed the snow away.

"I'm fine."

"You didn't have to do that."

He shrugged.

"I know."

She looked at him quietly.

"Thank you."

He smiled.

"I told you."

"I'm supposed to catch you."

She looked at him for a few seconds.

Then smiled.

"Aren't you cold?"

"I am."

"Then why did you stand in front of me?"

He looked at her.

"As long as my Ocean doesn't get hurt..."

"The cold doesn't matter."

Aarohi's heart skipped a beat.

She lowered her gaze.

Trying to hide yet another blush.

Kabir quietly nudged Anaya.

"Another blush."

Anaya laughed.

"I've honestly stopped counting."

The families continued walking toward the viewpoint.

As they reached the railing...

The view left everyone speechless.

Miles of snow-covered mountains stretched into the distance.

Clouds floated below the peaks.

The entire valley shimmered under the winter sun.

Aarohi stood silently, admiring the view.

"It's beautiful..."

Reyansh stood beside her.

"No."

She looked at him.

"What?"

He smiled softly.

"The view is beautiful..."

"But..."

He looked directly into her blue eyes.

"...it still comes second."

She smiled helplessly.

"You'll never stop teasing me, will you?"

He shook his head.

"Never."

A few moments later...

The families gathered for a group photograph.

Everyone stood together.

The photographer smiled.

"Ready?"

Kabir suddenly grabbed Anaya's arm and whispered,

"Stand over there."

"Why?"

"So Bhai and Didi end up together."

Anaya immediately understood.

"Genius."

The two little cupids quickly switched places.

Without realizing what had happened...

Aarohi found herself standing beside Reyansh.

Their shoulders lightly touched.

The photographer counted.

"Three..."

"Two..."

"One..."

Click.

The picture captured more than just a family trip.

It captured stolen smiles.

Blushing cheeks.

Hidden feelings.

And a boy...

Who couldn't stop looking at the girl everyone else called Aarohi...

But who, to him...

Would always be his Ocean.
