Chapter 70-The New Baby of the House 🐢

"Sometimes the smallest paws leave the biggest footprints on a family's heart."

It had only been three days.

Three days since the tiny golden Labrador had entered Rathore Mansion.

And somehow...

The peaceful mansion had transformed into complete chaos.

The little puppy had become the undisputed ruler of the house.

He ran through the hallways at lightning speed.

Slid across the marble floors.

Barked at his own reflection.

Tried to chase butterflies in the garden.

And occasionally...

Forgot how to stop while running.

THUMP!

He bumped into a sofa.

Shook himself.

Then happily continued running.

Ramu Kaka sighed as he picked up yet another fallen flower pot.

"This little sahib has too much energy."

From behind him, Advik grinned.

"He gets that from Vivaan."

"I heard that!"

That morning...

Vivaan walked downstairs wearing his school uniform.

Everything looked perfect.

Until he looked down.

"My shoelaces..."

The puppy sat proudly on the floor.

One lace hanging from his mouth.

Chew.

Chew.

Chew.

Vivaan gasped dramatically.

"No!"

"My new shoes!"

The puppy wagged his tail happily.

Clearly proud of his accomplishment.

Aadhya burst into laughter.

"Oh no..."

"Our little troublemaker."

She gently untied the lace from his mouth.

The puppy immediately licked her hand.

Vivaan folded his arms.

"He isn't even sorry."

Advik patted his shoulder.

"He believes he's helping."

"Helping?"

"Maybe he thought your shoes needed ventilation."

Everyone burst into laughter.

The puppy followed Aadhya everywhere.

If she went to the kitchen...

Tiny paws followed.

If she sat in the library...

He curled up beside her chair.

If she studied...

He slept under her desk.

If she painted...

He watched every brushstroke with curious eyes.

And every afternoon...

Without fail...

He climbed into her lap.

Curled into a tiny golden ball.

And fell asleep.

One evening...

Aadhya returned home from school.

The moment the front door opened...

Tiny paws came racing across the marble floor.

"Woof!"

The puppy jumped excitedly around her feet.

"There you are!"

Aadhya laughed.

She immediately bent down.

Scooped him into her arms.

And cuddled him tightly.

"Oh, I missed you too."

The puppy happily licked her cheek.

The six brothers had been waiting in the living room.

Watching.

Silently.

Very silently.

Advik slowly turned toward the others.

"...Did you all see that?"

Vihaan nodded solemnly.

"I saw it."

Vivaan clutched his chest dramatically.

"She picked him up..."

"...before hugging us."

The room fell silent.

Advik gasped.

"We've been replaced."

Vivaan looked ready to cry.

"She loves him more than me."

He dramatically collapsed onto the sofa.

"My own Twinny..."

"How could she?"

Vihaan shook his head sadly.

"I knew this day would come."

"I just didn't think it would happen so fast."

Rudransh couldn't stop smiling.

"You three are jealous..."

"...of a puppy."

"We're not jealous," Advik protested.

"We're deeply emotionally affected."

Even Aryaveer joined the teasing.

"I suppose we'll have to schedule appointments if we want Sunshine's attention."

Aadhya looked up, confused.

"What are you all talking about?"

Before anyone could answer...

Veeransh quietly crossed his arms.

His expression remained perfectly serious.

"Chhoti."

She blinked.

"Yes?"

"You ignored me today."

The room became completely silent.

Thenβ€”

Everyone burst into laughter.

Even Veeransh smiled faintly.

Aadhya looked horrified.

"I did?"

Vivaan nodded dramatically.

"First him."

He pointed at the puppy.

"Then us."

She quickly placed the puppy down.

"Oh no!"

She immediately walked over.

First...

She hugged Vivaan.

"My Twinny can never be replaced."

He smiled victoriously.

"I knew it."

Then she hugged Vihaan.

"My Pumpkin Protector."

He laughed.

"I accept your apology."

Next came Advik.

She wrapped her arms around him.

"My Munchkin Bhaiya."

He grinned.

"I forgive you."

"But only because you're cute."

She hugged Rudransh.

"My Dove Bhaiya."

He smiled warmly.

"I wasn't worried."

"I know."

"You always worry quietly."

She hugged Aryaveer.

"My Sunshine Bhaiya."

He gently patted her head.

"Our Sunshine remembered us."

Finally...

She stood in front of Veeransh.

He looked at her without saying anything.

She smiled softly.

"I'm sorry..."

"My Chhoti's favourite Bhaiya."

Without another word...

She hugged him.

For a brief second...

He simply stood there.

Then...

He hugged her back.

A small smile appeared on his face.

"I suppose..."

"The puppy can stay."

Vivaan immediately pointed.

"See?"

"He was jealous too."

Veeransh looked at him.

"I said nothing."

"You complained."

"I stated a fact."

Everyone laughed again.

That evening...

The family gathered for dinner.

The puppy slept peacefully inside a little basket beside Aadhya's chair.

Every few minutes...

Someone secretly slipped him a tiny treat.

Rudransh noticed.

"Advik."

"No."

"Don't."

Advik slowly removed the biscuit from his hand.

"He looked hungry."

"He ate five minutes ago."

"He looked hungry again."

Halfway through dinner...

The puppy stretched.

Yawned.

Then waddled toward Vikram.

He rested his tiny head on Vikram's foot.

Vikram gently picked him up.

The little Labrador immediately fell asleep in his arms.

Vikram looked at the sleeping puppy for a long moment.

A gentle smile appeared on his face.

"You know..."

Everyone looked toward him.

"Your mother always wanted a dog."

The dining room grew quiet.

No one spoke.

Vikram continued softly.

"Every time we passed a pet shelter..."

"She would stop."

"And spend time playing with every puppy."

He smiled through the memory.

"She used to say..."

'A house becomes warmer when tiny paws run through it.'

Aryaveer smiled faintly.

"She even had names picked out."

"I remember," Rudransh said.

"She wanted a golden Labrador."

Vihaan laughed softly.

"And she promised she'd be the one to train him."

Advik chuckled.

"Considering how spoiled this fellow already is..."

"She would've failed."

Everyone laughed gently.

Vivaan looked at the sleeping puppy.

"Mom would've loved him."

Veeransh nodded quietly.

"She would have."

Aadhya looked at the framed portrait of Nandini Rathore hanging in the dining hall.

She smiled softly.

In her heart...

She imagined a graceful woman sitting among them.

Laughing.

Calling the puppy to her.

Watching her sons tease one another.

Watching Vikram smile.

Watching Aadhya become part of their family.

For the first time...

She didn't feel like an outsider imagining that picture.

She felt like she belonged inside it.

She gently stroked the puppy's tiny head.

Then looked toward Nandini's portrait.

Almost in a whisper, she said,

"I think..."

"...he would've loved you too, Maa."

The room remained silent.

But every heart understood.

Some people may leave this world...

Yet the love they plant inside a family continues to bloom.

And somewhere beyond the stars...

It felt as though Nandini Rathore was smiling...

Watching her family become whole once again.

To Be Continued...
