"A photograph captures a moment... but love is what makes that moment last forever."
A week after the Annual Day celebration...
Rathore Mansion was unusually busy.
The decorators had been called.
Fresh flowers filled every corner.
The staff moved around carrying elegant dΓ©cor pieces.
Aadhya looked around curiously.
She stopped Ramu Kaka.
"Is someone coming today?"
Ramu Kaka smiled.
"Yes, bitiya."
"The photographer."
She blinked.
"Photographer?"
Before he could answer...
Advik appeared behind her.
"Wear something nice, Munchkin."
"We're becoming famous today."
She frowned in confusion.
"What?"
Just then...
Vikram walked into the living room.
"I've been planning this for months."
He smiled warmly.
"We've never had a complete family photograph."
He looked lovingly at all seven children.
"And now..."
"We finally do."
Aadhya's eyes widened.
"A family photoshoot?"
Vikram nodded.
"Our first one."
She smiled shyly.
"I've... never had one before."
Without a word...
Aryaveer gently squeezed her shoulder.
"You'll have many from now on."
Upstairs...
The mansion became wonderfully chaotic.
Everyone was getting ready.
Vivaan wore a cream kurta that matched Aadhya's pastel blue outfit.
He proudly announced,
"See?"
"We match."
Aadhya laughed.
"We always match."
"Exactly."
Vihaan spent nearly fifteen minutes trying to style his hair.
Advik walked past him.
"You've been looking in the mirror longer than Aadhya."
"I care about appearances."
"You care about your hairstyle."
"Same thing."
Rudransh quietly helped Vikram button his sherwani.
Aryaveer adjusted his watch.
Veeransh made sure everyone's outfits looked neat before silently fixing his own cuffs.
When Aadhya stepped downstairs...
The entire family looked toward her.
She wore a simple pastel blue Anarkali suit with delicate silver embroidery.
Her hair was loosely braided.
She looked elegant.
But she immediately became nervous.
"Is it... okay?"
Vivaan smiled proudly.
"Twinny."
"You look amazing."
Advik nodded dramatically.
"Our Munchkin is officially prettier than all of us."
Vihaan laughed.
"That wasn't difficult."
Even Veeransh gave a small approving nod.
Aryaveer smiled.
"Our Sunshine always brightens the room."
Aadhya blushed.
Soon...
The professional photographer arrived.
He greeted everyone politely.
"What a wonderful family."
Advik immediately whispered,
"You haven't started taking pictures yet."
The photographer laughed.
"I can already tell who's going to be the most difficult."
Everyone looked at Advik.
He placed a hand on his chest.
"I feel attacked."
The first few photographs were individual portraits.
Vikram.
Each brother.
Aadhya.
Then sibling combinations.
Vivaan refused to leave Aadhya's side.
Whenever the photographer tried changing positions...
Vivaan protested.
"No."
"I'm standing next to Twinny."
"You can stand on the other side."
"No."
"Behind her?"
"No."
"In front?"
"No."
Everyone laughed.
The photographer finally surrendered.
"Alright."
"You stay beside your sister."
Vivaan grinned victoriously.
"I knew you'd understand."
Then came the brothers' group photograph.
The photographer instructed,
"Everyone stand straight."
Advik nodded seriously.
The camera clicked.
At the exact second...
He crossed his eyes and puffed out his cheeks.
The photographer lowered the camera.
"...Sir."
Advik smiled innocently.
"Yes?"
"I think we'll take another one."
The brothers burst into laughter.
Second attempt.
Click.
This time...
Advik pretended to yawn dramatically.
Third attempt.
He secretly made bunny ears behind Vihaan.
Fourth attempt.
He leaned so far sideways that he almost knocked Vivaan over.
Finally...
Aryaveer folded his arms.
"Advik."
"If you ruin one more picture..."
"I'm removing dessert from tonight's menu."
Advik gasped.
"That is emotional blackmail."
"It is effective."
"...Fine."
Everyone laughed again.
Now...
It was time for the complete family portrait.
The photographer carefully arranged everyone.
"Mr. Rathore in the centre."
"Youngest children in front."
"The brothers around them."
Aadhya stood beside Vikram.
Vivaan immediately slipped to her other side before anyone else could.
"Told you."
"I'm not moving."
"No one asked you to."
He smiled proudly.
Just before the photographer lifted his camera...
A gentle breeze drifted through the open windows.
Aadhya's light dupatta slipped from her shoulder.
She instinctively reached for it.
Before she could fix it...
Veeransh quietly stepped forward.
Without saying a word...
He carefully adjusted the dupatta over her shoulder.
Making sure it sat neatly.
Then he stepped back to his place.
It was such a small gesture...
Almost no one noticed.
Except Aadhya.
She looked at him.
He simply nodded once.
As if saying,
"There."
"Perfect."
A soft smile appeared on her face.
"Thank you..."
He answered quietly,
"Always."
The photographer smiled.
"Everyone ready?"
The family nodded.
"Wonderful."
He looked through the camera lens.
Then said the words every photographer says.
"Smile."
For a moment...
No one tried.
No one forced it.
Advik whispered,
"Vivaan snores."
"I do not!"
"You drool too."
"I do not!"
"You absolutelyβ"
Vivaan threw a playful elbow at him.
Everyone burst into genuine laughter.
Aryaveer shook his head.
Rudransh smiled warmly.
Vihaan laughed so hard he almost bent over.
Veeransh's quiet smile appeared once again.
Vikram looked at his children with pure happiness.
And Aadhya...
She laughed with them.
Not because someone had asked her to.
But because she was truly happy.
Click.
The camera captured the moment.
Not a perfect pose.
Not rehearsed smiles.
Just...
A family.
Exactly as they were.
A few days later...
The finished photographs arrived.
Beautifully framed.
The largest one was carried into the mansion hallway.
The entire family gathered around as it was carefully hung on the wall.
It found its place beside the elegant portrait of Nandini Rathore.
For a few moments...
No one spoke.
Vikram looked at Nandini's portrait.
Then at the new family photograph.
His eyes softened.
"I think..."
"She would've loved this."
Aryaveer nodded quietly.
"She always dreamed of a house full of laughter."
Rudransh smiled.
"I think she'd say we're finally complete."
Vivaan looked up at his mother's portrait.
Then grinned.
"Mom..."
"Meet our Twinny."
Aadhya's eyes filled with tears.
She folded her hands respectfully before Nandini's portrait.
In her heart...
She whispered,
"I never got the chance to know you..."
"But thank you..."
"For leaving behind a family that taught me how to love again."
As everyone slowly walked away...
Aadhya remained standing in the hallway.
She looked at the portrait of Nandini.
Then at the family photograph beside it.
Seven smiling faces.
One proud father.
A home filled with warmth.
A place where she belonged.
A gentle smile spread across her face.
And she thought...
"Families aren't always born. Sometimes... they choose each other."
With that thought warming her heart...
She quietly followed her family.
Because wherever they were...
That was home.
To Be Continued...
