Chapter 44-The Great Pillow War

"Growing older is unavoidable. Growing up is optional—especially when your siblings are involved."

The following Saturday evening...

Rathore Mansion was unusually quiet.

Too quiet.

Which, according to Advik...

Was a very dangerous sign.

Aadhya had finally recovered enough to move around comfortably.

The doctor had removed her stitches a few days earlier.

Her mid-term preparation was going well.

Life had settled back into its warm, familiar rhythm.

Dinner was still an hour away.

Everyone was free.

And free time...

Usually meant trouble.

Aadhya sat comfortably on the large rug in the family lounge, solving one of the puzzle books Vihaan had bought for her.

Vivaan lay on the sofa beside her, lazily scrolling through funny videos.

Advik was trying to convince Rudransh to watch a comedy movie.

"It'll improve your health."

Rudransh looked up from his novel.

"I'm already healthy."

"It'll improve your happiness."

"I'm already happy."

"It'll improve your patience."

"I'll need that if you keep talking."

Everyone laughed.

Vihaan was flipping through a sports magazine.

Aryaveer was answering emails on his laptop.

Veeransh quietly continued reading a history book.

The room was peaceful.

For exactly...

Twenty-three seconds.

Vivaan looked around.

He looked at the soft cushions on the sofa.

Then at the fluffy pillows.

Then...

A mischievous smile slowly spread across his face.

He quietly picked up one pillow.

Balanced it in his hands.

Looked at Aadhya.

"Twinny..."

She didn't even look up from her puzzle.

"Hmm?"

THUMP!

The pillow landed gently on her shoulder.

She looked up in surprise.

Vivaan immediately pretended to whistle innocently.

"I have no idea what happened."

Aadhya narrowed her eyes.

"Oh..."

"So that's how it is?"

Without warning...

She picked up another pillow.

THUD!

It landed squarely on Vivaan's face.

The room echoed with laughter.

Vivaan gasped dramatically.

"She attacked me!"

"You started it!"

"I merely introduced the game."

Advik jumped off the sofa.

"A pillow fight?"

He picked up two pillows.

"I've trained for this my entire life."

Within seconds...

He launched one at Vivaan.

Unfortunately...

His aim was terrible.

The pillow hit Vihaan instead.

Vihaan slowly lowered his magazine.

Looked at Advik.

Then quietly picked up a pillow.

"You made a mistake."

THUMP!

The pillow flew straight into Advik's chest.

"Traitor!"

Advik shouted.

He grabbed another pillow.

Now there were four people involved.

Then five.

Vivaan ducked behind the sofa.

"Twinny!"

"Cover me!"

"No!"

"You started this!"

She laughed as another pillow bounced off her shoulder.

Rudransh calmly closed his novel.

Placed a bookmark inside.

Looked around at the flying pillows.

Stood up.

Picked one up.

Everyone froze.

"Dove..."

he said calmly.

"Move."

Aadhya obediently stepped aside.

The next second—

WHOOSH!

His pillow flew perfectly across the room...

Landing directly on Advik.

Advik blinked.

"You..."

"You aimed."

Rudransh smiled.

"I did."

The battle officially escalated.

Pillows flew in every direction.

The sofas became forts.

The coffee table became neutral territory.

Vivaan dramatically rolled across the carpet to "avoid enemy fire."

Only two people remained uninvolved.

Aryaveer.

And Veeransh.

Aryaveer continued typing on his laptop.

"I have work."

Veeransh calmly turned another page.

"I'm reading."

Aadhya looked at them.

Then exchanged a mischievous glance with Vivaan.

He understood immediately.

Mission:

Drag the serious brothers into the war.

"Twinny..."

Vivaan whispered.

"Operation Attack."

She nodded.

"Ready."

"Three..."

"Two..."

"One!"

Vivaan distracted Aryaveer.

"Bhaiya!"

"Hm?"

The moment Aryaveer looked up...

Aadhya gently tossed a pillow.

POOF!

It landed perfectly against his shoulder.

The room became silent.

Aryaveer slowly looked at the pillow.

Then at Aadhya.

She immediately covered her mouth.

"...Oops."

Advik whispered dramatically,

"She's brave."

Vihaan nodded.

"Very brave."

Aryaveer quietly closed his laptop.

Saved his work.

Placed it carefully on the table.

Then stood up.

He picked up the same pillow.

A calm smile appeared on his face.

"So..."

"My Sunshine has declared war?"

Aadhya squealed.

"Run!"

Too late.

The pillow landed softly against her back.

She burst into laughter.

Now only one person remained untouched.

Veeransh.

Still reading.

Completely ignoring the chaos.

Advik looked at Vivaan.

"We can't leave him."

Vivaan nodded seriously.

"No soldier left behind."

The two slowly sneaked toward him.

Veeransh didn't even look up.

"I know what you're doing."

"No, you don't."

"I do."

"You're wrong."

"I'm not."

Before either of them could attack...

Veeransh calmly lifted the pillow beside him.

Without looking—

THUMP!

It hit Advik.

Perfectly.

Advik stared in disbelief.

"How?!"

"I heard your footsteps."

Vivaan laughed so hard he fell onto the carpet.

For the next several minutes...

The mansion echoed with nothing but laughter.

Pillows flew everywhere.

Feathers escaped from one unfortunate cushion.

Even Ramu Kaka quietly walked past the room...

Looked inside...

Smiled...

And wisely kept walking.

Then...

The living room door opened.

Vikram walked in after finishing an important phone call.

"What is all this noi—"

WHOOSH!

A stray pillow, thrown by Advik but expertly dodged by Vivaan, flew straight across the room.

POOF!

It landed directly against Vikram's chest.

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Everyone froze.

Vivaan slowly hid behind Aadhya.

Advik looked at the ceiling.

"I suddenly remember I have homework."

Vihaan coughed.

"A very strong pillow."

Aryaveer sighed.

"We're finished."

Even Veeransh quietly lowered his book.

Vikram looked at the pillow.

Then at his seven children.

No one dared move.

Aadhya bit her lip nervously.

"Papa..."

"I'm sorry..."

For a long moment...

He didn't say anything.

Then...

A slow smile appeared on his face.

He bent down.

Picked up the pillow.

Weighed it in his hand.

Everyone watched nervously.

The next second—

THUMP!

He threw it straight at Advik.

It hit him perfectly.

Advik gasped dramatically.

"Papa joined!"

Vivaan jumped into the air.

"The General has entered the battle!"

"Retreat!"

"No!"

"Attack!"

The room exploded into laughter once again.

The second round of the Great Pillow War was even more chaotic.

This time...

Vikram was laughing louder than everyone.

Aryaveer finally abandoned all dignity.

Rudransh forgot about being the responsible one.

Vihaan declared himself captain of Team Pumpkin.

Advik claimed he had been "unfairly targeted."

Vivaan proudly protected Twinny with a pillow shield.

Veeransh—despite insisting he wasn't participating—was caught throwing three perfectly aimed pillows.

And Aadhya...

Laughed until tears rolled down her cheeks.

Happy tears.

The kind she had never imagined she would have.

Much later...

Everyone collapsed onto the sofas, completely exhausted.

Feathers covered the carpet.

Pillows were scattered across the room.

The family looked as though a tiny storm had passed through the mansion.

Advik looked around and declared,

"I'd like to officially announce..."

"Team Munchkin won."

"No chance," Vivaan protested.

"Team Twinny won!"

"Pumpkin's team," Vihaan argued.

Aryaveer smiled.

"I think everyone won."

Veeransh looked at Aadhya, whose cheeks were still pink from laughing.

Then quietly added,

"...Especially Chhoti."

Aadhya looked around the room.

At her father.

At her six brothers.

At the joyful mess surrounding them.

And she realized...

Some families built memories through expensive vacations.

The Rathores...

Built theirs with flying pillows, endless laughter...

And love that filled every corner of the house.
