"Sometimes, the people with the gentlest hearts are the first to risk everything for the ones they love."
The final evening of the school trip arrived with perfect weather.
The buses stopped near one of Rajasthan's most beautiful hill viewpoints.
Below stretched endless valleys painted in shades of green and gold.
The cool breeze carried the scent of wild flowers.
The setting sun turned the entire sky into a canvas of orange, pink, and crimson.
Students gasped in admiration.
"It's beautiful..."
Teachers smiled.
"Stay together."
"Don't cross the safety ropes."
"And be careful near the edges."
Everyone nodded obediently.
The students spread across the viewpoint in small groups.
Siya and Kiara immediately began filming another reel.
"This sunset is perfect!"
Dev volunteered to become their cameraman.
"I expect an award for this."
Kabir quietly adjusted everyone's bags onto a nearby bench.
"So no one forgets anything."
Arjun stood beside him.
"You think of everything."
"I try."
Aadhya stood near the railing, sketchbook in hand.
She wasn't drawing.
She was simply watching the sunset.
The wind gently played with the loose strands of her hair.
She smiled.
It had been the happiest three days of her life.
Nearby...
Vivaan had somehow convinced a local vendor to sell him a colourful paper windmill.
He spun it happily.
"Twinny!"
"Look!"
He laughed as the little windmill danced in the breeze.
"It's nice!"
Aadhya called back.
Then...
A stronger gust of wind swept across the hill.
The paper windmill slipped from Vivaan's hand.
"Oh!"
"It flew away!"
Without thinking...
He ran after it.
The little windmill rolled toward the far side of the viewpoint.
Closer.
Closer.
Toward an unfenced rocky patch beyond the marked safety area.
"Vivaan!"
Aadhya called.
He didn't hear her.
The laughter around him drowned out her voice.
He was focused only on catching the colourful windmill before it disappeared.
His foot landed on loose gravel.
Just one more step...
And beneath it...
The ground suddenly crumbled.
From where she stood...
Aadhya saw it first.
Her heart stopped.
"VIVAAN!"
She dropped her sketchbook.
Everything happened within seconds.
She ran.
As fast as she could.
Students turned in surprise.
Teachers shouted.
But she heard none of it.
There was only one thought in her mind.
Vivaan.
Just as the earth beneath him gave way...
Aadhya reached him.
With all the strength she had...
She shoved him backward.
Vivaan stumbled.
Fell onto the grassy path.
Safe.
But the force of the push threw Aadhya forward.
Her own feet slipped on the loose stones.
For one terrifying second...
She tried to regain her balance.
Her fingers reached for a nearby rock.
Missed.
"AADHYA!"
Vivaan screamed.
The loose gravel collapsed beneath her.
She slipped.
Then tumbled down the rocky slope.
One...
Two...
Three...
Sharp rocks scraped against her arms.
Her shoulder struck a boulder.
Another rock hit her forehead.
Everything became a blur.
Until finally...
Her body came to rest several metres below.
Completely still.
Silence.
A horrible...
Unnatural silence.
Thenβ
"AADHYA!"
Teachers screamed.
Students panicked.
Someone called for help.
Another teacher immediately dialed the emergency services.
"Call an ambulance!"
"Now!"
Vivaan scrambled to his feet.
His hands trembled violently.
"No..."
"No..."
"Twinny..."
He ran toward the slope.
A teacher caught him just in time.
"No, Vivaan!"
"It's dangerous!"
He struggled desperately.
"Let me go!"
"My sister!"
"Please!"
Tears streamed down his face.
Below...
Aadhya lay motionless.
A thin trail of blood ran from a cut on her forehead.
Her sketchbook had landed nearby.
Its pages fluttered helplessly in the wind.
Siya covered her mouth in horror.
Kiara began crying.
Dev stood frozen.
For the first time since anyone had known him...
He couldn't say a single word.
Kabir immediately helped the teachers clear the area so the rescue team could reach her.
Arjun guided the younger students away from the edge.
Everyone watched in terrified silence.
Within minutes...
Local rescue personnel arrived.
Carefully...
They climbed down the rocky slope.
One rescuer checked her pulse.
"She's breathing."
Another sighed in relief.
"But she's unconscious."
They secured her onto a stretcher with extreme care.
Every movement felt endless.
At the same time...
Back in Jaipur...
Aryaveer was in an important meeting.
His phone vibrated.
He ignored it once.
Then again.
Then a third time.
The caller ID read:
Principal β St. Xavier's International School
A strange feeling settled in his chest.
He answered immediately.
"...Hello?"
The principal's voice shook.
"Mr. Rathore..."
"There's been an accident."
Aryaveer's face lost all colour.
Within seconds...
Everything changed.
Meetings were cancelled.
Cars were started.
Calls were made.
Vikram.
Rudransh.
Veeransh.
Advik.
Vihaan.
Everyone rushed toward the hospital nearest to the picnic site as fast as possible.
No one spoke during the drive.
No one could.
The silence was filled only with fear.
Meanwhile...
The ambulance finally arrived.
The paramedics quickly began examining Aadhya.
Blood pressure.
Pulse.
Oxygen.
The cut on her forehead was carefully bandaged.
She still hadn't opened her eyes.
Vivaan stood outside the ambulance, sobbing uncontrollably.
His hands were stained with dirt from where he had fallen.
He kept shaking his head.
"It's my fault..."
"No..."
"It's my fault..."
"If I hadn't run..."
"Twinny wouldn't..."
He couldn't finish the sentence.
Siya gently held his shoulders.
"It wasn't your fault."
He cried harder.
"It is!"
"She pushed me..."
"She saved me..."
"She got hurt because of me..."
The ambulance doors closed.
The siren echoed through the hills.
Teachers climbed into the accompanying vehicle.
Students watched with tear-filled eyes.
The cheerful school trip...
Had ended in complete silence.
Far down the road...
Six brothers and a father were racing toward the same hospital.
None of them knew how serious her injuries were.
They knew only one thing.
Their little sister...
Their Twinny.
Their Munchkin.
Their Dove.
Their Sunshine.
Their Pumpkin.
Was lying unconscious inside an ambulance.
And for the first time since she had entered their lives...
The Rathore family was truly terrified.
To Be Continued...
