"The best memories are often made on ordinary journeys with extraordinary people."
The day everyone had been waiting for finally arrived.
The school parking area buzzed with excitement long before sunrise.
Students arrived carrying backpacks, neck pillows, snacks, cameras, and far more enthusiasm than sleep.
Parents stood nearby giving endless instructions.
"Don't skip meals."
"Drink enough water."
"Stay with your group."
"Call us every evening."
The teachers smiled knowingly.
Every year, the advice was exactly the same.
At one corner of the parking area...
The Rathore family had practically turned the place into a farewell ceremony.
Aadhya adjusted her backpack while smiling helplessly.
"Papa..."
"I'll only be gone for three days."
Vikram smiled as he checked her bag one last time.
"I know."
"Still..."
He slipped a small packet of dry fruits into her backpack.
"For emergencies."
Aadhya laughed softly.
"There are no dry-fruit emergencies."
"There can be."
Rudransh stepped forward next.
"Your medicines?"
"I packed them."
"Water bottle?"
"Filled."
"Sunscreen?"
"Packed."
"Power bank?"
"In the front pocket."
Rudransh nodded in satisfaction.
"Good."
Aryaveer handed her a small envelope.
She looked confused.
"Bhaiya?"
"A little pocket money."
"I already have some."
"I know."
"This is from your eldest brother."
She smiled warmly.
"Thank you..."
Advik dramatically placed a paper bag into her hands.
"Emergency chocolate supply."
Aadhya laughed.
"How many chocolates did you buy?"
"I stopped counting."
Vivaan peeked inside.
"There are at least fifteen!"
"They're for my Munchkin."
"And maybe one or two for Twinny."
Vihaan adjusted the brim of her favourite navy-blue sports cap.
"Pumpkin."
She looked up.
"Hm?"
"Have fun."
"And don't let Dev convince you to try anything dangerous."
"I heard that!" Dev shouted from the bus door.
The entire parking area laughed.
Finally...
Veeransh walked toward her.
He handed her a small folded paper.
"What's this?"
"The emergency contact numbers."
"They're already in my phone."
"I know."
"This is a backup."
She smiled.
"You think of everything."
He simply nodded.
"Keep it safe."
Just as Aadhya climbed onto the bus...
Vivaan appeared right behind her.
"Told you."
"We're sitting together."
She laughed.
"I never doubted it."
Inside the bus...
Chaos had already begun.
Dev stood in the aisle with an imaginary microphone.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!"
"Welcome aboard Rathore Airlines!"
"Our destinationβthree days of absolute fun!"
Kabir sighed.
"We're travelling by bus."
"Details."
Siya and Kiara had already claimed the seats behind Aadhya and Vivaan.
"Smile!"
Kiara held up her phone.
"No one's awake enough to smile," Kabir muttered while carefully arranging everyone's luggage in the overhead racks.
"If I don't do this..."
"Someone's bag will fall."
Dev raised his hand.
"It'll probably be mine."
"Exactly."
As the bus rolled out of the school gates...
Cheers erupted inside.
Someone started singing.
Someone else clapped along.
Within minutes...
The entire bus had turned into a concert.
Dev declared himself the official Entertainment Committee.
"First activity!"
"Antakshari!"
The boys cheered.
The girls accepted the challenge immediately.
Teachers sitting at the front simply smiled.
They knew resistance was impossible.
Team A:
Siya.
Kiara.
Aadhya.
A few other girls.
Team B:
Dev.
Kabir.
Arjun.
Vivaan.
Several boys.
"Rules?" Kabir asked.
"No rules."
Dev replied confidently.
Kabir pinched the bridge of his nose.
"I expected that."
The games continued for hours.
Antakshari became dumb charades.
Dumb charades became riddles.
Riddles became rapid-fire questions.
Every time someone ran out of ideas...
Dev invented another game.
Even the teachers eventually joined in.
At one point...
The history teacher challenged the students.
"If anyone answers five history questions correctly..."
"They get extra dessert tonight."
Kabir immediately sat up straighter.
Dev whispered,
"We've already lost."
Kabir answered all five without missing a single one.
The entire bus applauded.
Dev sighed dramatically.
"I knew it."
Meanwhile...
Siya and Kiara had declared themselves the Official Reel Department.
Every beautiful location...
Every funny moment...
Every meal...
Every bus ride...
Became another video.
"Come here, Aadhya!"
"We're filming!"
She laughed.
"I'm in half your videos already."
"And you'll be in the other half too."
Vivaan refused to leave Aadhya's side.
Whenever the bus stopped...
He waited for her.
Whenever they walked through museums...
He stayed beside her.
Whenever teachers divided students into groups...
He somehow managed to end up in hers.
Finally...
The sports teacher laughed.
"Vivaan."
"You know your sister can survive without you for five minutes."
Vivaan smiled proudly.
"Why take the risk, Sir?"
Even the teachers laughed.
The three-day trip unfolded beautifully.
They explored the magnificent halls of Amer Fort.
Admired ancient astronomical instruments at Jantar Mantar.
Visited museums filled with history.
Participated in science demonstrations.
Enjoyed nature trails.
Played team-building games.
Shared meals together.
Every evening ended with group activities and laughter.
On the second night...
The students gathered around a small bonfire at the nature camp.
The teachers encouraged everyone to share a talent.
Dev performed hilarious impressions of almost every teacher.
The teachers laughed harder than the students.
Kabir recited a beautiful poem.
Siya sang a soft melody.
Kiara convinced everyone to dance.
Arjun played the guitar.
When it was Aadhya's turn...
She hesitated.
Then quietly took out her sketchbook.
Within twenty minutes...
She had drawn the entire group sitting around the bonfire.
When she showed the sketch...
Everyone fell silent.
It was beautiful.
Even the principal smiled.
"You've captured more than faces."
"You've captured memories."
Aadhya blushed.
On the final day...
The atmosphere changed.
Not because anyone was sad.
But because everyone wished the trip would last a little longer.
The students laughed even louder.
Clicked even more photographs.
Promised to stay in touch foreverβeven though they would all meet in school on Monday.
As the sun slowly began to set...
The buses reached the lakeside campsite where they would spend their final evening before returning the next morning.
Golden sunlight shimmered across the calm water.
Teachers instructed everyone to stay within the marked areas.
Students eagerly spread out, taking pictures and enjoying the cool breeze.
The air was peaceful.
The sky glowed in shades of orange and pink.
It felt...
Perfect.
No one knew...
That before this beautiful evening came to an end...
Everything was about to change.
To Be Continued...
