"The most precious gifts are not the expensive ones—they're the ones chosen with love."
The following Saturday morning, the Rathore Mansion was unusually lively.
Vivaan came running down the stairs with his backpack already on.
"Papa! Are we leaving?"
Vikram looked up from his newspaper and laughed.
"We're going shopping, not on a world tour."
"I know!"
"I'm excited!"
Advik stretched lazily on the sofa.
"I'm only coming for the food court."
Vihaan rolled his eyes.
"No, you're coming because Papa ordered you to."
"That too."
Aadhya entered the living room.
"Good morning."
"Good morning!" everyone greeted together.
She looked around curiously.
"Is... something happening?"
Vikram smiled.
"Yes."
"We're going shopping."
She blinked.
"For what?"
"The festival season is coming."
"You still need a few things."
"New clothes."
"Shoes."
"Some accessories."
"And whatever else my daughter likes."
Aadhya immediately shook her head.
"I already have enough."
Vivaan groaned dramatically.
"Twinny..."
"We're shopping."
"You are not allowed to refuse."
An hour later...
The entire family arrived at one of Jaipur's largest shopping malls.
The place was bright, elegant, and filled with weekend crowds.
Aadhya instinctively slowed down as they entered an expensive clothing store.
She looked at the sparkling displays.
The elegant dresses.
The designer collections.
The neatly arranged shelves.
Everything looked... far too expensive.
She quietly folded her hands behind her back.
Careful not to touch anything.
A saleswoman smiled warmly.
"Welcome."
"What would you like to see?"
Before anyone could answer—
Vivaan proudly announced,
"My sister needs everything."
Aadhya looked horrified.
"Not everything!"
Everyone laughed.
The saleswoman began showing beautiful dresses.
Soft pastel kurtas.
Elegant ethnic wear.
Comfortable casual outfits.
Every time she held up something beautiful...
Aadhya smiled politely.
Then looked at the price tag.
And quietly put it back.
"This is enough."
She picked the simplest outfit.
"I don't need anything else."
A few minutes later...
Another dress caught her eye.
It was a beautiful lavender Anarkali with delicate embroidery.
For just a second...
She reached toward it.
Then noticed the price.
Her hand immediately moved away.
"It's... very nice."
"But I don't need it."
She smiled and walked away.
She didn't notice...
Aryaveer had been watching.
Without saying a word...
He walked over to the salesman.
In his calm voice, he simply said,
"Pack the one she liked first."
The salesman nodded discreetly.
"Certainly, sir."
Aryaveer returned as though nothing had happened.
Meanwhile...
Rudransh quietly disappeared into the bookstore next door.
He remembered every conversation they'd had in the kitchen.
The novels she loved.
The sketchbooks she admired.
The poetry collection she had once mentioned in passing.
Without telling anyone...
He bought them all.
The cashier smiled.
"Gift?"
He nodded.
"For my little sister."
At the same time...
Advik wandered into a chocolate shop.
Five minutes later...
He returned carrying several packets.
Instead of telling anyone...
He quietly slipped chocolates into Aadhya's shopping bags whenever she wasn't looking.
Vivaan caught him.
"What are you doing?"
"Operation Munchkin."
Vivaan nodded seriously.
"Approved."
A little later...
Vihaan stopped in front of a sports store.
"Come here."
Aadhya followed him inside.
He picked up a navy-blue sports cap.
"Try this."
She smiled awkwardly.
"I don't wear caps."
"You will now."
He gently placed it on her head.
Vivaan immediately clapped.
"Twinny looks cool!"
Advik nodded dramatically.
"Very cool."
Aadhya looked at herself in the mirror.
She couldn't help smiling.
"It... actually looks nice."
Vihaan grinned.
"I told you."
"It's yours."
Before leaving the sports store...
Vivaan suddenly pointed excitedly.
"There!"
Everyone turned.
A display of matching sibling hoodies stood near the entrance.
One hoodie read—
BIG SIS
The other—
LITTLE BRO
Vivaan gasped dramatically.
"We're buying these."
Aadhya laughed.
"Vivaan..."
"No arguments."
Within minutes...
He had convinced her to try them on.
Standing in front of the mirror...
The two siblings looked at each other.
Vivaan proudly threw an arm around her shoulders.
"Perfect."
Aadhya laughed.
"You planned this."
"I absolutely did."
The salesman couldn't help smiling.
"You both look wonderful."
Throughout the afternoon...
The shopping bags slowly increased.
New clothes.
Books.
Stationery.
Shoes.
Art supplies.
Festival decorations.
Aadhya kept repeating the same sentence.
"This is enough."
"I don't need anything else."
Every single time...
Someone quietly added another bag.
Only one person hadn't bought anything.
Veeransh.
He mostly walked behind the others.
Watching.
Observing.
Listening.
Then...
He noticed something.
Every single time Aadhya picked up an item...
Before even looking at it properly...
She checked the price tag.
If it seemed expensive...
She immediately put it back.
Without another glance.
His expression softened.
She still wasn't used to believing she deserved nice things.
He didn't say anything.
But he remembered.
By evening...
Everyone finally returned to the parking area.
Just when Aadhya thought shopping was over...
Advik disappeared into one final store.
Five minutes later...
He emerged carrying a large paper bag.
"What now?" Aryaveer asked.
Advik grinned proudly.
"I have improved this family."
He opened the bag.
Inside were seven pairs of matching sunglasses.
Vivaan immediately wore his.
"I'm awesome."
Vihaan laughed while putting on his own.
"We all look ridiculous."
"Correction," Advik replied.
"We look stylish."
Even Aryaveer accepted a pair with a small smile.
Rudransh shook his head, laughing.
Veeransh silently wore his without comment.
When Aadhya finally put hers on...
Vivaan pointed dramatically.
"Family photo!"
The security guard kindly offered to click it for them.
Seven smiling siblings.
One proud father.
All wearing identical sunglasses.
People walking past couldn't help smiling at the cheerful group.
The drive home was even louder.
Vivaan kept singing off-key.
Advik claimed he was a professional singer.
Vihaan insisted otherwise.
Rudransh laughed so much he nearly spilled his coffee.
Even Aryaveer joined the teasing.
Veeransh looked out of the window...
Though every now and then...
The corner of his lips lifted at the ridiculous conversations around him.
Aadhya sat quietly in the middle seat.
Watching them.
Listening.
Smiling.
When they finally reached the mansion...
The servants helped carry dozens of shopping bags inside.
Aadhya stood in the hallway, looking at everything.
The lavender dress.
The books.
The sports cap.
The matching hoodies.
The chocolates secretly hidden in one of the bags.
The sunglasses.
Every item had been chosen by someone who had simply thought...
"She'll like this."
Her eyes slowly filled with tears.
Not sad tears.
Happy ones.
She gently touched one of the shopping bags and smiled to herself.
"Nobody has ever bought something..."
"Just because they thought I'd like it."
Standing at the top of the staircase, Vikram quietly watched his daughter.
He didn't interrupt her thoughts.
He simply smiled.
Because sometimes...
The smallest gestures were the ones that healed the deepest wounds.
To Be Continued...
