Chapter 26-The Loudest Movie Night

"A house becomes a home when laughter echoes louder than silence."

Saturday evenings at Rathore Mansion were special.

No office meetings.

No hospital emergencies unless absolutely necessary.

No business calls.

No work laptops.

It was one rule Vikram had made years ago.

Saturday night belonged to family.

Ever since Aadhya had become a Rathore...

Everyone wanted to make those evenings even more memorable.

After dinner, Advik clapped his hands dramatically.

"Attention, ladies and gentlemen!"

"The weekly Family Movie Night officially begins in ten minutes."

Vivaan jumped from his chair.

"I'll get the popcorn!"

"I'll help!" Aadhya offered.

"Nope."

Vivaan grinned.

"You're our guest of honour today."

She smiled.

"I live here now."

"Exactly."

"Which makes you an even more important guest."

Advik nodded seriously.

"His logic is questionable..."

"...but we'll allow it."

Within minutes...

The home theatre looked wonderfully chaotic.

A giant bowl of buttered popcorn sat on the centre table.

There were nachos, sandwiches, samosas, chocolates, cold drinks, and homemade brownies prepared by Ramu Kaka.

Bruno had already claimed the soft rug in front of the television.

Vivaan had claimed the biggest blanket.

Advik argued that blankets had no owners.

Vihaan declared himself the official snack manager.

Aryaveer rolled his eyes.

"You've already eaten half the snacks."

"I'm quality testing."

Rudransh laughed.

"Very dedicated."

The biggest debate, however...

Was choosing the movie.

"I vote action!" Vihaan announced.

"No."

Vivaan shook his head.

"Animation."

"Horror," Advik suggested with a mischievous grin.

Aadhya immediately looked alarmed.

"I... I don't like horror."

Advik smiled kindly.

"Then horror is cancelled."

Rudransh nodded.

"We're choosing something everyone enjoys."

Aryaveer looked at Vikram.

"You decide, Papa."

Vikram smiled.

"Comedy."

"No objections?"

Everyone agreed.

Even Veeransh gave a quiet nod from the corner of the couch.

The lights dimmed.

The movie began.

For exactly thirty seconds...

Everything was peaceful.

Then—

Vivaan leaned toward Aadhya and whispered loudly,

"That uncle is actually the villain."

The entire room groaned.

"Vivaan!" six voices said together.

"What?"

"That's called a spoiler," Vihaan replied.

"I'm helping."

"No, you're not."

Five minutes later...

A suspenseful scene appeared on screen.

Just before the big reveal—

Vivaan announced proudly,

"The hero is hiding behind the curtain."

The hero immediately walked out from behind the curtain.

Advik threw a cushion at him.

"No spoilers!"

Vivaan caught it dramatically.

"I have a gift."

"You have a problem," Aryaveer corrected.

Everyone laughed.

As the movie continued...

Advik suddenly stood up.

"What are you doing?" Aadhya asked.

"The hero's walk is inaccurate."

Before anyone could stop him...

He began copying the actor's exaggerated slow-motion walk across the room.

Chest out.

Shoulders back.

Hair flip.

Even Bruno tilted his head in confusion.

Vihaan burst into laughter.

"That's exactly how he walks!"

Encouraged by the reaction, Advik copied the villain next.

Then the heroine.

Then every supporting character.

Each impression became more ridiculous than the last.

Even Vikram had to wipe tears of laughter from his eyes.

Halfway through the movie...

A dramatic emotional dialogue played on screen.

The actor declared,

"I will never leave you!"

Advik immediately copied him with the same dramatic expression while holding a popcorn bowl.

"I will never leave..."

"...this popcorn."

The entire room erupted with laughter.

Vihaan laughed so hard that he completely lost his balance.

"Careful!" Rudransh warned.

Too late.

Vihaan slid sideways and nearly fell off the couch.

Fortunately, Aryaveer caught him by the arm.

"I think the couch is trying to escape you."

Vihaan laughed even harder.

"I can't breathe!"

Vivaan pointed dramatically.

"Replay that!"

"We're not replaying your brother falling off the sofa," Rudransh chuckled.

Throughout all the chaos...

Aadhya laughed.

At first, it was soft.

Then louder.

Then uncontrollably.

Every time Advik copied another actor...

She laughed again.

Every time Vivaan accidentally spoiled another scene...

She laughed even harder.

At one point, Dev's impression from school somehow came up in conversation, and Advik immediately mimicked him too.

That was the final straw.

Aadhya laughed until tears formed in her eyes.

She held her stomach.

"I... I can't..."

"You two..."

"...are impossible!"

Advik proudly bowed.

"Thank you."

Vivaan high-fived him.

"Teamwork."

Across the room...

Veeransh quietly watched the scene.

Aadhya was laughing so freely that she didn't notice him looking.

For someone who had once apologized for every little thing...

This carefree laughter felt almost unbelievable.

The corner of his lips lifted.

Just a little.

Then again a few minutes later.

Vihaan noticed.

He nudged Rudransh.

"Look."

Rudransh followed his gaze.

Veeransh...

Was smiling.

Not a polite smile.

A real one.

Neither brother said anything.

Some moments deserved to remain untouched.

Near the end of the movie...

The hero delivered one final dramatic speech.

Before he could finish...

Vivaan proudly announced,

"He wins."

Advik threw another cushion.

"You spoiled the ending!"

"I saved everyone twenty minutes."

"You owe us all extra popcorn."

"I accept my punishment."

When the credits finally rolled...

No one rushed to leave.

The television was still on.

The popcorn bowls were almost empty.

Blankets were scattered everywhere.

Bruno was asleep.

The room looked wonderfully messy.

Exactly the way a family room should after a movie night.

Aadhya looked around quietly.

Papa was smiling.

Aryaveer and Rudransh were discussing the funniest scene.

Vihaan was still laughing about falling off the couch.

Vivaan was defending his spoilers.

Advik was insisting his impressions deserved an award.

Even Veeransh looked more relaxed than usual.

She closed her eyes for just a second.

Something felt different.

For the entire evening...

She hadn't remembered the Sharma house.

She hadn't remembered the loneliness.

She hadn't remembered the tears.

She hadn't remembered the orphanage gate.

She had simply...

Laughed.

When she opened her eyes again...

The mansion echoed with cheerful voices, playful arguments, and endless laughter.

It no longer felt like a grand, silent building.

It felt warm.

Comfortable.

Alive.

It finally sounded exactly like what it had become—

A home.

As Vikram quietly watched his seven children laughing together, his heart filled with gratitude.

Years ago, silence had settled over the mansion after Nandini's passing.

Tonight...

That silence had finally been replaced.

Not by noise.

But by the happiest sound he could have wished for—

The laughter of a complete family.

To Be Continued...
