"Some nicknames aren't planned. They are born from the sweetest little moments."
The Rathore Mansion was unusually quiet.
The clocks had just struck 11:30 p.m.
One by one, the lights across the mansion switched off.
Aryaveer had finally closed his laptop after finishing office work.
Rudransh had returned late from the hospital and gone straight to bed.
Veeransh was reading one last chapter of his book before sleeping.
Vihaan had fallen asleep halfway through watching a football match.
Vivaan...
Well...
He had somehow managed to sleep hugging three pillows and a blanket that clearly wasn't his.
Only one person remained awake.
Advik.
He wandered downstairs, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I knew I shouldn't have skipped dessert."
His stomach growled dramatically.
"See?"
"It agrees with me."
Shaking his head, he walked toward the kitchen.
Just as he reached the doorway...
He stopped.
The kitchen light was already on.
"Huh?"
He frowned.
"Ramu Kaka?"
No answer.
Instead...
He heard the faint sound of glass clinking.
Then—
A tiny gasp.
Advik slowly peeked inside.
Standing on a small wooden stool...
Trying her absolute best to reach the highest shelf...
Was Aadhya.
She was stretching on her tiptoes with one hand while trying to carefully pull down a large glass jar with the other.
The famous chocolate jar.
Advik folded his arms.
For a few seconds...
He simply watched.
It was almost impossible not to laugh.
Finally...
He cleared his throat.
"Ahem."
Aadhya jumped so suddenly that she nearly lost her balance.
"Oh!"
The jar wobbled.
Before it could fall, Advik quickly caught it.
He placed it safely on the counter.
Then looked at her.
She slowly climbed down from the stool.
Neither of them spoke.
Advik raised one eyebrow.
"What exactly..."
"...is happening here?"
Aadhya stared at the floor.
"I..."
He looked at the chocolate jar.
Then back at her.
His expression became even more serious.
"Were you..."
He paused dramatically.
"...stealing evidence?"
Aadhya blinked.
"What?"
"The chocolate."
"The crime scene."
"The suspect."
She couldn't help smiling.
"I wasn't stealing."
"Oh?"
"No."
"I was just..."
She hesitated.
"...borrowing."
"For how long?"
She thought seriously.
"...Until tomorrow?"
Advik burst into laughter.
She folded her arms and pouted.
"I only wanted one."
"One?"
She nodded innocently.
"Just one chocolate."
"So you climbed Mount Everest for one chocolate?"
"The jar was very high."
"That's because someone keeps eating them."
"I do not."
"Hmm."
He slowly opened the jar.
It was almost half empty.
He looked at her.
She immediately looked away.
"I can explain."
"I'd love to hear this."
She spoke very quietly.
"I've been taking..."
"...one every night."
Advik stared at her.
"...Every night?"
She nodded sheepishly.
Silence.
Then—
He laughed so loudly that even Bruno barked from somewhere in the hallway.
"You know what?"
He shook his head in amusement.
"So tiny..."
"So innocent..."
He looked at her dramatically.
"...and secretly such a little Munchkin."
Aadhya blinked.
"Munchkin?"
He nodded.
"The cutest midnight chocolate thief I've ever met."
She immediately covered her face with both hands.
"Bhaiya..."
"Don't say that."
"Why not?"
"It's embarrassing."
"It suits you perfectly."
"It does not."
"It absolutely does."
She groaned softly.
"Oh no..."
Just then...
Another voice echoed from the doorway.
"What's going on?"
Both of them turned.
Vivaan stood there with messy hair, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
"I heard laughing."
Then he noticed the chocolate jar.
He looked at Aadhya.
Then at Advik.
Then back at Aadhya.
His eyes widened dramatically.
"Twinny!"
"You were secretly eating chocolates without me?"
Aadhya looked completely guilty.
"I..."
Vivaan clutched his heart.
"I've been betrayed."
Within another minute...
Vihaan wandered in.
"Why is everyone awake?"
Advik pointed toward Aadhya.
"Ask our little midnight chocolate thief."
Vihaan looked at her.
Then smiled.
"You climbed onto a stool?"
She nodded shyly.
"I couldn't reach."
Vihaan chuckled.
"You could've asked."
"I didn't want to disturb anyone."
Advik immediately handed her a chocolate.
"Next time..."
"You wake me up."
"I'll happily disturb everyone."
The laughter somehow reached the living room.
Rudransh appeared next, followed by Aryaveer.
Even Veeransh walked in with his book still in hand.
Aryaveer looked around the kitchen.
"Why is the entire family here?"
Vivaan answered dramatically.
"Emergency meeting."
"Our sister has been caught."
Rudransh looked concerned.
"Caught doing what?"
Advik proudly held up the chocolate jar.
"This."
Silence.
Then...
Rudransh smiled.
"That's the emergency?"
"I thought someone was hurt."
Veeransh glanced at the chocolate jar.
Then at Aadhya, who still looked terribly embarrassed.
After a brief pause, the corner of his lips lifted ever so slightly.
"So..."
He said calmly.
"The criminal has confessed."
Everyone laughed again.
Even Aadhya couldn't stop smiling.
Advik gently placed another chocolate into her hand.
"There."
"Officially approved."
"No more climbing stools."
She nodded obediently.
"Okay."
"But..."
He grinned.
"The punishment remains."
She looked up nervously.
"What punishment?"
He folded his arms proudly.
"From today onward..."
"You are officially..."
He pointed at her with a dramatic flourish.
"Munchkin!"
Vivaan immediately laughed.
"Munchkin!"
Vihaan repeated it with a grin.
"Munchkin."
Rudransh smiled warmly.
"It actually suits her."
Aryaveer looked at Aadhya's embarrassed face and chuckled softly.
"I agree."
Even Veeransh, before turning to leave, quietly said,
"Goodnight..."
"...Munchkin."
Aadhya's eyes widened.
"Even you?"
He simply continued walking toward the stairs.
But everyone had heard it.
And everyone smiled.
The next morning...
Aadhya entered the dining room.
Before she could even sit down—
Advik waved enthusiastically.
"Good morning, Munchkin!"
Vivaan laughed.
"Morning, Munchkin!"
Vihaan smiled.
"Did you sleep well, Munchkin?"
Rudransh passed her a glass of milk.
"Here you go."
Aryaveer looked up from the newspaper.
"Morning."
"...Munchkin."
She covered her face in embarrassment.
"You all promised nothing!"
"We promised nothing," Advik replied innocently.
"You imagined that part."
She sighed dramatically.
"I'll never escape this."
Vivaan grinned.
"Never."
From that day onward...
Advik rarely called her by her real name.
To him...
She would always be the tiny girl who risked a dangerous kitchen expedition for a single piece of chocolate.
She would always be—
Munchkin.
And before long...
The nickname became another little piece of love that found a permanent place in the Rathore family.
