Chapter 23-Learning to Ride

"Sometimes, the people who teach you to fly are the same ones who make falling feel less scary."

The golden evening sun bathed the Rathore Mansion gardens in a warm glow.

School had ended a little early that day.

After finishing their homework, everyone slowly gathered outside.

Vihaan and Vivaan were playing football.

Rudransh had just returned from the hospital and was enjoying tea with Vikram in the gazebo.

Aryaveer was answering a few office calls while walking through the garden.

Veeransh sat beneath a tree, quietly reading a book.

As for Advik...

He had somehow convinced Bruno, the family's golden retriever, that they were in the middle of an important race.

Bruno barked happily while chasing him across the lawn.

Aadhya couldn't help laughing.

Advik dramatically stopped in front of her.

"Question."

She smiled.

"Hm?"

"Can you ride a bicycle?"

She hesitated.

Then quietly shook her head.

"No."

Advik blinked.

"You've... never learned?"

She smiled apologetically.

"There wasn't really a chance."

He understood immediately.

There had been no time for childhood.

Only responsibilities.

Without another word, Advik snapped his fingers.

"Wait here."

Before anyone could ask why, he disappeared into the garage.

A few minutes later...

He returned, proudly pushing a beautiful sky-blue bicycle.

Vivaan looked surprised.

"Whose cycle is that?"

Advik grinned.

"It was mine."

"And from today..."

He looked at Aadhya.

"...it's our project."

"Our project?"

He nodded enthusiastically.

"I'm teaching you."

Aadhya's eyes widened.

"I don't think I can."

"You definitely can."

"What if I fall?"

He smiled.

"Then I'll pick you up."

The next evening...

Their cycling lessons officially began.

The entire family somehow ended up watching.

Vihaan leaned against the fence.

Vivaan sat cross-legged on the grass with popcorn.

Rudransh laughed.

"He's treating this like a movie."

"It is a movie."

"The Adventures of Twinny."

Advik adjusted the bicycle seat.

"Rule number one."

Aadhya looked at him seriously.

"What?"

"Don't panic."

"I'll try."

"Rule number two."

"Hm?"

"If you panic..."

"Remember rule number one."

She giggled.

"That's not helpful."

"I know."

She carefully climbed onto the bicycle.

Her hands gripped the handlebars tightly.

"They're shaking," Advik observed.

"I know."

"I'm nervous."

He stood behind her, holding the seat firmly.

"I've got you."

She nodded.

"Ready?"

"No."

"Perfect."

He started walking.

The bicycle rolled forward slowly.

"Keep looking ahead."

"I'm trying."

"Don't look at your feet."

"I wasn't."

"You are now."

She immediately looked up again.

"I am."

"Good."

A few more metres...

Everything seemed fine.

Until—

The bicycle tilted.

"Aah!"

She lost her balance and gently landed on the soft grass.

"...Ow."

Everyone rushed forward.

"Aadhya!"

She quickly sat up.

"I'm okay!"

Advik offered his hand.

She accepted it.

"See?"

He smiled.

"You survived."

She laughed.

"I fell after five seconds."

"That's still a personal record."

For the next few days...

The lessons continued every evening.

Sometimes she managed ten metres.

Sometimes only three.

Sometimes...

She didn't move at all.

One evening...

As she was finally balancing well...

Advik suddenly let go.

Without warning.

She looked back.

"Advik!"

At that exact moment...

She became distracted.

The bicycle wobbled.

And both of them somehow ended up tumbling into the grass.

Aadhya burst into laughter.

Then looked at him suspiciously.

"You weren't even holding the cycle!"

He lay dramatically on the grass, clutching his shoulder.

"I've suffered a tragic accident."

"You fell after me."

"Exactly."

"I sacrificed myself."

She folded her arms.

"You did that on purpose."

He grinned.

"Maybe."

She lightly hit his arm.

"Cheater."

The following evening...

They argued over everything.

"I'm not sitting again."

"You are."

"I'm scared."

"You'll be fine."

"I won't."

"You will."

"I said no."

"I heard yes."

She sighed dramatically.

"You never listen."

"Correct."

Vivaan laughed so hard he nearly dropped his juice.

Soon...

Their lessons turned into friendly competitions.

"Race you to the mango tree!"

"I can't even ride properly!"

"Excuses already?"

"You're impossible."

"And yet..."

He mounted another bicycle.

"...you're still racing me."

She rolled her eyes.

"Fine."

Three...

Two...

One...

They pushed off.

Advik deliberately pedaled slowly.

Aadhya focused entirely on balancing.

She didn't even notice that he was letting her catch up.

When she reached the mango tree first...

She gasped.

"I won!"

Advik looked dramatically disappointed.

"I've been defeated."

Vihaan whispered to Aryaveer,

"He definitely let her win."

Aryaveer smiled.

"I know."

"But don't tell her."

Nearly two weeks later...

The evening sky glowed orange and pink.

The family had gathered once again in the garden.

Advik adjusted the bicycle one last time.

"Today's the day."

Aadhya looked nervous.

"What if I can't?"

"You can."

"I believe you."

She smiled softly.

"So do we."

Rudransh called from the bench.

"We're all watching."

"No pressure."

Advik laughed.

"Thanks, Doctor."

She climbed onto the bicycle.

Advik held the seat.

"Ready?"

She took a deep breath.

"Ready."

"Pedal."

Slowly...

The bicycle began moving.

One metre.

Two.

Five.

Ten.

She kept looking ahead just as Advik had taught her.

Without her realizing...

He had already let go.

She was riding on her own.

Completely.

The cool evening breeze brushed against her face.

Her heart raced.

She was doing it.

She was really doing it.

After several metres...

She remembered Advik.

She turned around excitedly.

"Advik!"

"I—"

She stopped.

He was standing far behind her.

Hands in the air.

Clapping louder than anyone.

"YOU DID IT!"

His joyful shout echoed across the garden.

The rest of the family immediately joined in.

Vivaan jumped up and down.

"That's my Twinny!"

Vihaan whistled proudly.

Rudransh applauded with a huge smile.

Aryaveer clapped, his usually composed face glowing with pride.

Even Veeransh closed his book and smiled—a small but genuine smile.

Vikram looked at his daughter with tears quietly gathering in his eyes.

Aadhya quickly stopped the bicycle.

She looked from one smiling face to another.

Then back at Advik.

"You let go..."

He nodded proudly.

"A long time ago."

"You trusted me?"

He smiled.

"I knew you could do it."

For a moment...

Neither of them spoke.

Then Aadhya ran toward him.

Without thinking...

She wrapped her arms around him in a quick hug.

"Thank you..."

She whispered.

Advik froze for a second before smiling and gently patting her head.

"Anytime."

The family watched the scene with warm smiles.

It wasn't just about learning to ride a bicycle.

It was about something much bigger.

For the first time in her life...

Aadhya had learned that falling wasn't something to fear.

Because now...

She had people who would always be there to help her get back up.
